Welcome to our first lesson. First thing first, I will teach you how to get to the edit section.
Just a reminder: If you’ve already knew everything in the content, feel free to pursue to the next chapter.
Under osu main selection screen, select “Edit”, it will take you to an interface that looks pretty much identical to your “Play” interface.
Next, put the songs we want to map into osu. It is simple, just drag and drop your song file into osu interface.
Since it is a well elaborated tutorial, I will do it step by step with you. (Be grateful for the nice person that I am~)
So here is the song I wish to map.
Important Notice:
-
osu ONLY support “mp3” format now (2015/10/17 edited), all the other format osu spits it back to your face.
-
In terms of sound quality, it is recommended to use 128kbps and 192kbps sound files (Official ranking criterion). If you are only making this for fun, feel free to ignore it.
-
In case of file name error, try to avoid anything that isn’t English or numbers.
-
Also, your file name can’t be too long.
Below are some examples (Arrows for navigation, caption included, click on the picture for higher resolution)
1-1 osu’s main menu
Click on “Edit”, you will then proceed to “Edit song selection interface (1-2)”

We’ve completed the first step to mapping! (Cheers)
All right, this section ends here, until now it should be fairly easy to understand.
To avoid confusions, I will keep the tutorials short. They will be separated into various small sections and a few big chapters.
If you are still willing to learn, proceed to the next section~
